[33:4]  1 sn For the Lord’s decrees are just… After the call to praise (vv. 1-3), the psalmist now gives a series of reasons why the Lord is worthy of praise.

[33:4]  2 tn Heb “word.” In this context, which depicts the Lord as the sovereign creator and ruler of the world, the Lord’s “word” refers to the decrees whereby he governs his dominion.

[33:4]  3 tn Or “upright.”

[33:4]  4 tn Heb “and all his work [is] in faithfulness.”

[64:9]  5 tc Many medieval Hebrew mss read וַיִּרְאוּ (vayyiru, “and they will see”) instead of וַיִּירְאוּ (vayyirÿu, “and they will proclaim”).

[64:9]  6 tn Heb “the work of God,” referring to the judgment described in v. 7.

[66:5]  7 tn Or “see.”

[66:5]  8 tn Or “acts” (see Ps 46:8).

[66:5]  9 tn Heb “awesome [is] an act toward the sons of man.” It is unclear how the prepositional phrase relates to what precedes. If collocated with “act,” it may mean “on behalf of” or “toward.” If taken with “awesome” (see 1 Chr 16:25; Pss 89:7; 96:4; Zeph 2:11), one might translate “his awesome acts are beyond human comprehension” or “his awesome acts are superior to anything men can do.”

[78:4]  10 tn The pronominal suffix refers back to the “fathers” (“our ancestors,” v. 3).

[78:4]  11 tn Heb “to a following generation telling the praises of the Lord.” “Praises” stand by metonymy for the mighty acts that prompt worship. Cf. Ps 9:14.

[78:11]  12 tn Heb “his deeds.”

[107:22]  13 tn Heb “and let them proclaim his works with a ringing cry.”

[145:17]  14 tn Heb “in all his ways.”

[145:17]  15 tn Heb “and [is] loving in all his deeds.”
